BLOOMINGTON

Indiana University women’s basketball coach Teri Moren, of Seymour, was named Big Ten Coach of the Year on Monday.

Moren, in her second season, is the second Indiana head coach to be named Big Ten Coach of the Year. The first was Maryalyce Jeremiah in 1983.

The Hoosiers went 12-6 in Big Ten play for fourth place. IU had a 20-10 overall record, which is a regular-season record for wins.

The fourth-place conference finish was the school’s best since tying for third in 1998.

At 2:30 p.m. Friday, the Hoosiers — who earned a double bye — will play their first game of the Big Ten Women’s Basketball Tournament at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
