Vonda Starlene Shinolt, 73, of Edinburgh, formerly of North Vernon, passed away Thursday, July 30, 2015, at her residence.

Born Jan. 25, 1942, in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of Edward Pieczko and Fern Cox Pieczko Barnes, both of whom preceded her in death. In May of 1990 in Columbus, she married Gary Shinolt, and he preceded her in death.

Vonda worked in retail sales for the former Ruby Jane’s in North Vernon and the Kasper Store at the Edinburgh Outlet Mall in Taylorsville. She was a member of the United Service Organizations and Patriot Guard of Indiana; Mrs. Shinolt was very passionate about veterans. She was a 1960 graduate of North Vernon High School. Her enjoyments were watching old movies and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her two sons, George (Shannon) Covey of Seymour and John Jessup of Oak Harbor, Washington; two daughters, Lynne Conrad of Seymour and Lanette (Thomas) Hobbs of Edinburgh; five grandchildren, Gerad (Jennifer) Cody and Brandon Cody, both of Ellettsville, Mason Covey of Seymour, Alanna Hobbs of Edinburgh, and Andrew Jessup of West Virginia; and five great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Curtis Barnes.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Burial will be in Vernon Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project and The Salvation Army.
