Anchor House to conduct tours of buildings, pantry

An open house will be conducted at Anchor House Family Assistance Center and Food Pantry from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the campus at 250 S. Vine St. in Seymour.

Tours are available, and board members and staff will be on hand.

Anchor House officials are in the process of renovating two apartment buildings adjacent to the property. Seven of the units in those two buildings will be used for private housing for families. The eighth unit will be used for office space and to provide resources to help families get back on their feet.

The present shelter will then be remodeled, and the food pantry there will be expanded. The work is being funded by a grant from Cummins Foundation, private donations and the help of volunteer labor when possible.

Anchor House is a Jackson County United Way agency.
