Seymour’s baseball team scored in every inning but the second to defeat Brownstown Central 11-6 Monday afternoon on the Braves’ diamond.

The Crothersville girls track and field team was victorious on Monday evening while the boys came in second place in a tri-meet against Trinity Lutheran and Hauser.

Golf coaches Jim Hoffman of Seymour and Brent Hattabaugh of Brownstown Central said they were encouraged by the performances of their team in the Seymour Invitational at Shadowood Golf Course on Saturday.

The track and field season starts this week for Jackson County teams, and there’s a lot of talent spread out across the oval for each team.

Coming off a regional finals appearances last spring, the Seymour girls tennis team will look a little differently this season.

Trinity Lutheran’s softball team scored pairs of runs in the first two innings, and single runs in the third and fifth innings to defeat Jac-Cen-Del 6-2 at home Friday afternoon.

Tommy Day was coming off of his most successful season in stock car racing in 1971. He had captured the 6-cylinder track championships at both the 25th Street Fairgrounds Raceway in Columbus and at Twin Cities Speedway in North Vernon.

The Crothersville high school and middle school boys and girls basketball teams and cheerleaders were honored Wednesday night during an awards program at the school.
