Bertha Jane Brewer, 89 years of age, died at 10:34 p.m. Monday, August 14, 2023, at home surrounded by her family. She was so very loved.

Bertha was a member of Brownstown Church of the Nazarene. She retired from Pantasote/Holmes Industries.

Bertha was born on November 11, 1933, at Paris Crossing to the late Ralph Marling &Louise Sparks Marling. She graduated from Paris Crossing High School. On September 4, 1953, she married Earl Brewer (whom she met on a blind date) and he preceded her in death on May 8, 2005.

They added to their family: Donna (Lanny) Baughman, Carolyn Baker, Tony (Rosie) Brewer, Richard Brewer, &Barbara (Michael) Martin. Together, Dad &Mom taught their children about Jesus, and to love and serve others, to be fiercely competitive and to never give up. They also considered Paul Henderson one of their kids, and Debbie Perkins who helped care Mom.

Family was so very important to our Mom and Dad and with each new grandchild and great grandchild, they rejoiced.

Baker.

Bertha loved her Jesus and desired Him more than anything, she always had a love for reading the Bible, but when she could no longer hear, God intensified her desire of reading God’s word and she completed reading the Bible through 57 times.

Bertha loved having her family for Sunday dinners at her home and continued this family tradition even until her passing and her family will continue this tradition per her wishes. There were many people that participated in Sunday dinners that were not blood family, but family nonetheless.

She loved watching Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, and she was an avid Cincinnati Reds fan, and on her last clear night, she enjoyed watching the Reds win in the 10th inning as her kids cheered on as well.

She was a beloved softball coach for the women’s &men’s church softball team, coaching the men in her late 70’s. She was a prayer warrior, if you knew her, she has probably prayed fervently for you.

She loved her family and desired that each one lives a surrendered life to Jesus. She loved attending all of her grandkids sports events, church activities, and school activities.

She instilled in us, her family, to always do our best. She loved her special neighbors &treasured their visits. She held many roles in church throughout the years, but her greatest roles in life, were being a servant of God and loving wife to Earl, mom to her kids, and grandma to her many grandchildren. She has left a legacy behind that we, as a family, desire &hope to carry on. She was loved beyond measure.

Bertha enjoyed playing games and shared many special times playing them with family. In her later years, she became an avid bird watcher, and learning their identities.

Lastly, if you do not know her Jesus, her prayer &desire was and is that you turn your heart to God &serve Him faithfully.
