SMS band members earn gold at solo and ensemble competition

Members of the Seymour Middle School bands participated in the Indiana State School Music Association Solo and Ensemble Competition on Feb. 4 at Columbus East High School.

Receiving gold medals for solos were Kyle Sinkhorn, trumpet; Chase Carter, tuba; Jared Martinez, trumpet; Anniston Rennekamp, marimba; Oliver Lanam, trumpet; Ryan Goss, marimba; Kenna Bohle, flute; Dhamara Aguilar, trombone; Aiden Ault, trumpet; Katelyn York, flute; Elijah Schrink, snare; Betsy Bruce, flute; Rilee Gootee, snare; Isaac Ramirez, bass clarinet; Megan Stout, alto saxophone; Patty Todd, bass clarinet; Anniston Rennekamp, snare; Vivi Newkirk, flute; Noemi Sebastian, flute; Kayla Martinez, snare; Max Reinhart, alto saxophone; Conner Schafer, alto saxophone; Elijah Gonzalez, clarinet; Olivia Wilp, snare; Gabby Cornn, alto saxophone; Alexa Prieto, clarinet; Ashton Canaday, tenor saxophone; Hana Miyagawa, clarinet; Katelynn Woods, bassoon; Jazzlyn Cravens, oboe; Macey Moss, clarinet; and Kayli Lopez, bass clarinet.

Ensembles receiving gold medals were Betsy Bruce, Kenna Bohle and Kylie Keyes, flute trio; Michael LaSpina, Conner Schafer and Max Reinhart, alto saxophone trio; George Walls, Colton Gabbard and Collin Patterson, alto saxophone trio; Aubri Clark, Jenna Downs and Alexa Prieto, clarinet trio; and Ryan Goss, Eli Reasoner, Kayla Martinez, Olivia Wilp, Mia Arrona, Jackson Charlton and Garrison Redlin, percussion ensemble.

Seymour Middle School bands are under the direction of Luke Horton, Tim Johnston and Debbie Carroll.
