The Home for the Holidays event that was planned for Nov. 28 in downtown Seymour has been canceled.

An email was sent to participants from Sasha Norman, event coordinator for the Seymour Chamber of Commerce, on Tuesday.

The decision was made after much deliberation from the chamber along with the other event sponsors, including Seymour Main Street, Seymour Oktoberfest and Seymour Parks and Recreation Department.

"Due to the surge in recent COVID-19 cases, the Seymour Chamber stands in solidarity with the Jackson County Health Department and other local communities in cancelling events that could promote the spread," the email reads.
