The family of Mr. James Andrew Beineke, 95, of Seymour, is saddened to announce his passing at the Lutheran Community Home on September 4, 2020. He was born in Crothersville on May 12, 1925 to the late Edward and Emillie (Perry) Beineke.

On November 28, 1946, he married Daisy Ernestine (Culp) Beineke who passed in 2002.

James was proud to serve his country in the United States Navy serving in WWII. While serving in the Navy, James earned several medals including the Victory Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal, the American Area Campaign Medal, and the Philippine Liberation Medal. Upon his return from the Navy, he worked at Arvin Industries for 35 years. He then worked at Cummins Engine Company retiring in 1987.

James was a member of VFW Post #1925 and American Legion Post 89. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and loved spending time on small engine repair.

James will be missed by his son; Roger (Marie) Beineke, Tammy (Darrell) Couch, Haley (Jeremy) Blair, Derek Couch, Zachary Couch; Joe (Kim) Schafstall, Sady Schafstall, Jasper Schafstall; Tammie Ault, Tevis Deaton, Briar Ault, Branson Ault; Marc Storey and family; Michelle (Mike) Frische and family; and Scott Storey and family; his daughter, Brenda (Joe) Phillips, Katherine (Craig) Showalter Dunn, Brooke and Erin Dunn; Kelly (Chris) Showalter Denney, Justin Denney.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his infant brother Johnny Beineke; and brothers, Lawrence (Anna) Beineke, Henry (Opal) Beineke, Charles (Kathryn) Beineke, Albert (Ann) Beineke and William “Bill” (Margaret) Beineke; sisters, Viola “Jenny” (Leland) Smith, Bessie (John) Lahne, Edna (Ronald) Sparks, Florence (Everett) Houghland and Edith (Eldon) Hill; and longtime companion, Evelyn (Otte) Harris.

Family and friends may call at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 from 4:00 pm to 6:30 p.m. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 6:30 pm with Rev. Bill Everhart officiating. A flag and taps presentation will be conducted by VFW Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled Veterans 47, and Korean and Vietnam Veterans, all of Seymour. Due to the Covid 19 Pandemic, face masks are respectfully required at all services.

Memorials honoring James may be written to his son-in-law, Joe Phillips for kidney transplant surgery or charity of choice, in care of Voss & Sons Funeral Service.
