Braves hold steady in latest IFCA poll

After a touchdown fest last Friday night in Clarksville, the Class 3A Brownstown Central football team stays put at No. 6.

Potential sectional foe Lawrenceburg sits at No. 9 in the class.

Top teams according to the IFCA are: Avon (6A), New Palestine (5A), New Prairie (4A), Indianapolis Chatard (3A), Western Boone (2A) and Indianapolis Lutheran (A).

Boys soccer

Cougars roll into sectional semifinal

Trinity Lutheran’s boys soccer team routed Lanesville 6-1 during Monday’s sectional opener.

Zephyr Wilson had the hat trick for the Cougars while Kash Seifer had a brace. Micah Baumgartel scored as well as for the Cougars.

The Cougars will be back in action on Wednesday against Austin at 5 p.m.

Volleyball

Braves get back to winning ways

Brownstown Central’s volleyball team swept Mid-Southern Conference rival Scottsburg 25-8, 25-16, 25-12.

Keeli Darlage led the Braves with 14 kills while Kendra McCory also had double digit kills with 10. Jennifer Pence rounded out the top attackers with six kills.

 McCory had a team-leading four aces while Darlage had three and Riley Nuss had one. 

They’ll continue their run against MSC opponents later this week against Salem and North Harrison.

Tigers fall to New Washington

Crothersville dropped a test to New Washington in straight sets, 25-8, 25-7, 25-15 on Monday night.

Lexie James was 6-for-6 on serves while Mirayah Kelshaw was 5 of 6 with an ace.

Addy Cole and Bekah Cook each had a kill for the Tigers.
