A 56-year-old truck driver from Kentucky was arrested after he crashed his semitrailer while intoxicated early Monday on Interstate 65.
James M. Murphy of Louisville was arrested after the crash near the 52 mile marker that shut down the northbound lanes of I-65 for about eight hours, according to a news release from the Indiana State Police.
Sgt. Stephen Wheeles, public information officer for the Versailles Post, said Murphy’s 2009 Volvo semitrailer was the only vehicle involved in the crash reported at 4:30 a.m.
Wheeles said Murphy was traveling just north of Seymour when his truck left the east side of the roadway and struck a guardrail before overturning.

Trooper James Herbert investigated the crash and saw that Murphy "had been drinking alcohol and showed signs of being intoxicated," Wheeles wrote in a news release.
A roadside preliminary breath test showed Murphy had a blood alcohol content of 0.26% at the time of the crash. He was taken to Schneck Medical Center in Seymour, where police obtained a blood sample through a search warrant.
Toxicology results are pending at this time, Wheeles said.
Neither Murphy nor a female passenger in his truck were injured during the crash, and the incident remains under investigation, police said.
State police were assisted by officers with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department and Seymour Police Department and personnel with the Redding Township Volunteer Fire Department and 31 Wrecker Service.
Murphy was arrested for operating while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content 0.15% or greater. He also was cited for an open container violation and disregarding a traffic control device.
Murphy was booked into the Jackson County Jail in Brownstown at 7:43 a.m. and was being held on a $705 bond Monday afternoon.
