Thursday is a very busy day for livestock owners.

The dairy beef show takes place, the beef show takes place and my favorite, the supreme livestock showmanship competition, is held.

The supreme livestock showmanship competition takes the showmanship winners from each of the species at the fair. This year, two competitions took place: The junior supreme and the ultimate supreme. The junior supreme takes the junior showmanship winners (the younger kids) and gives them the opportunity to show a pig, a dairy, a goat, a dairy beef, a sheep and a beef animal all in a row.

The ultimate supreme contest is exactly the same, but the contestants are the winners of the highest showmanship class of each species.

My friend, Emma Winks, participated in the ultimate supreme competition, representing the goat barn. I was so excited to see all of her hard work paid off today in the show ring. Even though she was shoved into gates, licked on and drug around the ring, she kept her cool the entire time and even pulled through with a win.

Today, I also participated in the creative dramatics performance at the pavilion. I sang “Only Hope” by Mandy Moore, and my cousin, Katie Deppen, played the piano. We won champion novelty group and reserve grand champion overall. Everyone that performed did an amazing job, and I am very excited to see what next year brings.
