Dorothy May King, 92, of Seymour, passed away, surrounded by loving family, at 3:40 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2015, at Lutheran Community Home.

Born Sept. 21, 1922, at Waymansville, she was the daughter of Frank and Charlotte Dietrich Meyer, both of whom preceded her in death. She was a 1940 graduate of Columbus High School. On Sept. 15, 1943, at Astoria, Oregon, she married Irven Eugene King. He preceded her in death on May 23, 2003.

Mrs. King was a homemaker and member of First Presbyterian Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher. She was a founding member of both the Ladies Auxiliary of Lutheran Community Home and Bells and Beaus Square Dance Club. Dorothy also was a past member of Seymour Garden Club, Southern Indiana Center for the Arts and a Girl Scout leader. She and her husband were members of Sexton Dance Club. Dorothy enjoyed her hobbies that included fishing, painting, quilting and sewing.

Survivors include her children, Kathy (Stephen) Maxwell and Thomas (Carol) King, grandchildren; Jennifer Maxwell, Stephanie Campbell, David (Candice) King and Jason (Laura) King; seven great-grandchildren, Ashley Phillips, Brian Phillips, Eric Sebastian, Matthew Allman, Adeline King, Nora King and Charlotte King; three great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Frank “Bud” Meyer; and her sister, Teresa Nelesen.

Besides her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by a brother, Clyde Meyer.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Burkholder Funeral Chapel with the Rev. John Erickson officiating.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery.
