Seymour school board meets tomorrow

The Seymour Community School Corp. board of trustees will meet at 7 p.m. tomorrow at the Seymour Central Service Center, 1420 Corporate Way.

The meeting will include the consent agenda, communications and recognition, donations and grants and updates on construction projects.

Joy Stuckwisch is requesting approval to accept the renewable grant funds from the Teacher Residency Grant for the 2024-25 academic year.

The $45,000 will go toward supporting three teacher residents during the 2024-25 academic year. Grant funds could be used to provide stipends to resident and mentor teachers, as well as payment to postsecondary partern for residency support.

Teacher residency programs are year-long, paid teaching experiences for student educators who plan on teaching kindergarten through 12th grade. Students teach alongside an experienced mentor teacher, preparing them for the classroom after graduation.

SCSC will be partnering with Indiana University Southeast, which is a requirement of the grant, and one of these areas of interest are Special Education and English Language Leaners Teachers. This will be the third year for the program, they have had “student” teachers in science and the social studies area.

Curt Schleibaum is requesting the approval of a $49,945.50 digital learning grant.

Action items include a policy update, approval of student meal prices, approvals of fuel and propane bid, Toshiba copier services, a JAG Partnership agreement with Southeast Indiana Workforce Investment Board, social services agreement with Centerstone and a seamless admissions agreement with Indiana University Columbus.

First read items include request to approve the 2024-25 classified handbook and salary schedule, transportation handbook and permission for change of venue for the 2025 prom to Copper Top in downtown Seymour.

The meeting is open to the public and press.

At 6:30 p.m., the board will meet in executive session to discuss items related to personnel. It’s closed to the public and press.
