Registration is now open through June 16 for the 2024 Jackson County Watermelon Festival pageant.

The event is open to Jackson County residents in various age categories ranging from 4 to 22 years old.

The pageant will be held at 6 p.m. July 28 in the Brownstown Central High School auditorium.

The winners in each category will receive a scholarship, prize package and unique festival experience. Awards will be given to winners and first runner-ups in all age categories.

The cash prize for petite miss, little miss and junior teen categories are $250, teen is $500 and miss is $1,000. Various prizes are donated by local community members and tickets to the Rock the Rind Music Festival.

The Watermelon Festival Queen also will advance to compete at the Indiana State Festivals Pageant.
