Delores (Wayt) Fields, age 92, of Brownstown, passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at Schneck Medical Center, Seymour, surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Fields attended Freetown Church of Christ.

Delores was employed at Arvins, Seymour Shirt Factory, and the Jackson Park nursing home. While working, she raised her six children, whom she loved dearly. She also loved sewing for her children and grandchildren and attending family gatherings.

Delores enjoyed singing Gospel music, attending hymn sings, playing the piano, and watching Andy Griffith shows.

Born on August 10, 1931, at her home in Freetown, Delores was the daughter of Chester and Gladys (Martin) Wayt, both of whom preceded her in death. On September 15, 1950, in Freetown, she married James E. “Jim” Fields, and he preceded her in death on August 26, 2011.

Survivors include two sons: Tony (Rhonda) Fields of Vallonia, and Randy (Linda) Fields of Mason, Ohio; four daughters: Rhonda Pray of Seymour, Kathy (Kenny) Mobley of Freetown, Debbie Acton of Brownstown, and Tammy Manship of Fishers; 14 grandchildren: Christopher (Kim) Fields, Megan (Scott) McFall, Allison Fields, Kayla Fields, Jamey Pray (Sherry Gullett), Jodi Emily (Marcos Olmedo), Jessica Horn, Nathan (Maggie) Mobley, Amy (Adam) Sparks, Ashley (Clint) Wolka, Kimberly (Alex) Dickerson, Victoria (Alex) Leachman, Emily Manship, and Kyle Manship; 17 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great grandchildren.

Delores was also preceded in death by one grandson, Matthew Manship; one great-great granddaughter, Tavaya Bevers; sister, Jean Wayt; sisters and brothers-in-law: Goldie and Alvin Sutton, Hazel and Marvin Isaacs, Nina and Orville Maschino, and Laverne and Kenneth Gorbett; brother and sister-in-law, Russell and Annabelle Wayt, Sr.; and brothers: Frank Wayt, Kenneth Wayt, and Thomas Wayt.

Funeral services for Delores (Wayt) Fields will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at Freetown Church of Christ, with Pastor Barry DeWitt officiating. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at Freetown Church of Christ.

Interment will follow at Freetown Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to Freetown Church of Christ or American Heart Association.
