Lenny Hauersperger, president of the Seymour Museum Center, recently announced the museum’s summer gala “School Dayz! School Dayz!” reunion.

The event will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Aug. 24 at the museum, 220 N. Chestnut St.

The evening will include the unveiling of a 1916 Model T Ford donated by Fred and Karen Pollert, Seymour school exhibits featuring graduations, sporting events, elementary school history and information about other rural schools that became part of the Seymour Community Schools system.

The enter is looking for donations and loans of school memorabilia to be included in this event. Anyone with things to contribute may contact Margaret Wilson at 304-228-4192 or Bob Kamman at 812-216-1500.

Recognition of donors, grantees and other museum supporters will be included in the evening.

The event will highlight the museum’s importance to the community in 1915 when it was built as the federal post office and today as the cornerstone of the north historic downtown corridor drawing visitors and locals to learn more about the distinct Seymour history. This year’s celebration will include music from DJ Ellen Olmstead, food from local vendors and other fun “school” activities include hopscotch, HORSE and other fun school games.

A cash bar also will be available.

Any former cheerleader or majorette who would like to lead the cheers and school song may contact Ruth Ann Rebber at 812-569-1659.

The emcee will be Erik Zakrzewski, gala chair. Eva Auleman will serve as food chair and Margaret Wilson will serve as exhibit chair.

Local businesses are stepping up to offer support and donations to make the evening one filled with remembrances of times and events that have and will continue to shape Seymour’s history.

Tickets for the evening are available at the Jackson County History Center (credit cards accepted) and Artistic Impressions (cash or check only).
