St. John’s Sauers presents “Wild, Wild, Wildest West”

The St. John Lutheran School Musical Department presented “The Wild, Wild, Wildest West (or How the West Was Dun)” May 2-3.

The show, set in the 1880s, is a musical parody of classic Hollywood westerns. The show’s book was written by Christopher Gieschen with music and lyrics by Bill Francoeur.

The plot revolves around Sheriff Wayne John in his efforts to prevent villains such as Snydley Dastardly, Kid Kid and Calamity Jane from taking over Low Humidity Chasm, all the while the wealthy Richard Coldheart attempts to take control of the Cracker property.

The main character, Sheriff Wayne John, was portrayed by Wyatt Wesner. Other key players included Kade Schepman as Deputy Doowrong, Josie-Ault Beavers as Widow Cracker, Addison Sullivan as Polly Wanda Cracker, Isabella Rothert as Prunella Cracker, Clayton Rieckers as Cowboy Bob Skratchit, Will Hackman as Bo Best, Lena Benter as Sasparilla Sal, Ross Bevers as Richard Coldheart, Korbyn Bane as Snydley Dastardly, Kennedi Butler as Belle Star, Marshall Lienart as Schizophrenic Kid, Lindsey Klosterman as Calamity Jane, TJ Rieckers as Kid Kid, Alex Hobson as Black Bart, Cole Brooks as Blacker Bart, Max Sommers as Reverend Right, Benjamin Klosterman and Owen Snyder as the narrators, Tatum Wehmiller as The Lone Stranger, and Clara Rubin, Gracie Hattchett, Brielle Killey and Ava Hien as the “Indianians.”

St. John’s production of “The Wild, Wild, Wildest West” was directed by Ross Rieckers, Holly Sawyer and Brooke Garcia and produced by special arrangement with Pioneer Drama Service, Inc., Englewood, Colorado.
