Randy Joe Banister, 74, of Freetown, IN, passed away peacefully at his home on May 4, 2024. He was born on November 24, 1949, in Seymour, to his beloved parents William “Bill” E. and Nellita “Kate” Banister, who preceded him in death.

Randy dedicated 30 years of his life to the Cummins Engine Company, where he worked diligently until his well-deserved retirement in 2002. He was a proud graduate of Brownstown High School, Class of 1970. Outside of his professional life, Randy found immense joy in his hobbies. He had a green thumb and enjoyed organic gardening, nurturing a variety of plants. His passion for nature extended to raising birds, including geese, chicks, and turkeys. Together with his parents, Randy operated a successful goat dairy farm, caring for over 100 goats and selling their milk and other products. After retirement, he found fulfillment in running a small engine repair shop, where he cherished the conversations with his customers.

Randy will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his surviving sister, Cindy (Denny) Heiman of Brownstown, IN; brother, David Lee Banister of Seymour, IN; niece, Erica Bohn; nephew, Josh Banister; great-niece, Anya Banister; great-nephews, Aramis Banister, Trevor Bohn, and Scout Bohn; as well as his cousin, Steve and Michelle Banister. He was preceded in death by his parents, William “Bill” E. and Nellita “Kate” Banister, and his nephew, T.J. Heiman.

Funeral services, led by Amos Mills, will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Adams Family Funeral Homes & Crematory Crothersville, with cremation to follow the service. Family and friends may pay their respects from Noon until the time of the funeral on the same day.
