Former Brownstown educator celebrating 80th birthday

A Clearwater, Florida, man who spent his career teaching in Indiana including at Brownstown Central High School will be celebrating his 80th birthday June 3

Wayne Showalter taught middle school and coached basketball, track and football in Rochester from 1966-70. He then moved to the high school level for remainder of his career teaching English and speech, being an advisor for school newspapers and coaching junior basketball from 1970 to 1977 at Noblesville, 1977 to 1980 at Aurora and 1980 to 1989 at Brownstown Central.

He then received his administrator’s license and was assistant principal at North Judson-San Pierre High School from 1989 to 1992; head principal at Winimac from 1992 to 1997; and Hibbard Middle School from 1997 to 1999.

Showalter retired in 1999 and moved to Clearwater, Florida.
