The Perrys, a Southern gospel quartet active since 1970, will perform at 6 p.m. May 11 at the Brownstown Church of Nazarene, 616 W. Commerce St., Brownstown.

“I am the middle of six children,” Libbi Stuffle (alto) states on The Perrys official website. “I started singing with my older siblings, Debra and Randy on Christmas Day 1970 after the passing of my old brother, Johnny Perry, age 13 years old. We sang locally within a 100 miles from home. On June 5, 1982 our youngest brother, George Perry, age 13 years old, passed away from a drowning accident. The Perrys felt led after that tragedy that we had a story to tell. The Perrys went full time in 1982. I started out singing soprano and then over the years switched down to alto.”

Tracy Stuffle joined the group in 1986, singing bass. In 1987, Libby and Tracy got married. He passed away in 2018.

Lead singer Dalton Gay joined the group full-time last year, having previously filled in with the group for over a year.

Bass singer Jared Stuffle, son of Libbi and Tracy, joined the family’s travels at two weeks old. He began singing with the group nearly 10 years ago helping fill his fathers roll on stage and has continued on since his passing.

Jason Gordon (baritone) recently joined The Perrys but has an extensive background in singing gospel music, like Gay.

“Yes, life is tough,” Libbi says on the group’s website. “And we all have battles — some we win and some we lose — but we can choose joy.”
