Registration is open for the Jackson County Young Artists’ Theatre annual summer workshop coming June 3-7 at Royal Off-the-Square Theatre, 121 W. Walnut St., Brownstown.

Parents can sign their kids up online at bit.ly/JCYATWorkshop. The cost is $60, which covers t-shirts, snacks, staffing and supplies for activities.

The sessions will be 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for ages 6 to 9, 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. for ages 9 to 12 and 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for ages 13 to 18.

Participants learn skills including stage basics, movement, projection, diction, characterization, improvisation and technical aspects.

Workshop participants have the opportunity to audition for the summer production on the last day of the workshop. However, participation in the play is not required for workshop participants. Those who are unable to attend the workshop may also audition for the play during one special session on a to be determined date.

The workshop will end with auditions for the JCYAT summer show, Disney’s “Frozen Jr.” This show is based on the 2018 Broadway musical and brings Elsa, Anna and the land of Arendelle to life, onstage. Performance dates will be July 19, 20, 21, 26, 27 and 28.

Volunteers are needing behind the scene including backstage, lights/sound, ushers and concession workers. Family members are encouraged to pitch in and help.
