Crothersville

The Tigers traveled to Henryville on Monday evening for a battle with the Hornets on the diamond. Crothersville scored a run to take an early 1-0 lead after the first inning.

Henryville responded with two runs in the bottom of the frame, eventually winning the game 14-4. Beau Napier and Lucas Hilton led the Tigers with two hits each. Hilton is just one hit and one stolen base away from tying the Crothersville school record in both statistics for a career.

The team faced Columbus Christian on Tuesday.

Brownstown Central

Brownstown’s softball team traveled to Floyd Central for a matchup with the Highlanders on Monday evening. Floyd scored five runs in the sixth inning to take full control of the game, winning 9-1 over the Braves. Brownstown took the early 1-0 lead in the first after Rylee May doubled to score Kelsey Schneider.

The Braves face Charlestown tomorrow on the road at 5:30 p.m.

Seymour

The Lady Owls grabbed their fifth win of the 2023-24 season on Monday, defeating Salem 8-2. Zoe Williams doubled to score Abby Followell and Taylor Stuckwisch. Mackenzie Bryson then grounded out, but scored Williams to take the early 3-0 lead. Seymour added their other five runs in the next three innings to secure the win.

Phoebe Underwood pitching a complete game, lasting seven innings, striking out 8 battters. Underwood also clobbered a three-run home run to left field, scoring herself, Avery Stewart and Followell.

Seymour faces Jennings County on Tuesday, before traveling to Bloomington South on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

The Tigers competed in a quad meet at Austin on Monday with New Washington, Henryville, and the hosting Eagles. Crothersville finished third on the boys’ side with a score of 48.50, while Henryville won the meet with a score of 88.50.

New Washington took the girls’ meet with a score of 46. Crothersville finished in fourth with a score of 16.

Brownstown Central

The Braves competed with Floyd Central and Jeffersonville on Monday at Valley View Golf Course. Brownstown finished in second place with a score of 160, eight strokes behind the Highlanders. Jeffersonville finished in third with a score of 211.

Micah Sheffer led the way with a 34 for a 2-under par. Smith Hackman followed with a 39, while Caiden Gwin chipped in a 43. Cole Brelage (44) and Matthew Reedy (45) rounded out scores for the Braves. Drew Shelton recorded a 46, while Collin Downing had a 47, with Caden Waskom recording a 49.

Brownstown faces Bedford North Lawrence on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
