The Crothersville Elementary Music Department have jumped into spring full-force. Their annual spring concert, “Think Spring”, with each grade sharing their talents of singing, dancing and motions was held recently.

Pre-K students sang and danced a bluegrass jamboree, while kindergartners made everyone smile by singing “Spread a Little Sunshine” wearing shirts with smiley faces.

First graders became farmers and carried plastic equipment in their performance of “Farmers Plants the Seed”, followed by second graders performing “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” in baseball attire, which was especially relevant as baseball season for all ages has begun.

This year, third graders learned a Japanese song, “Arirang”, and danced with fans.

Then, there was a special appearance by “The Beatles”; Paul McCartney was played by Emmett Snyder; George Harrison: Kingston McIntosh; John Lennon: Foster Ivy; and Ringo Starr: Ian Parker. The fourth graders led their class in “Here Comes the Sun.”

The program wrapped up with a hula hoop contest and fifth graders having a twist contest.

Those winner of the hula hoop contest was fourth-grader Bryleigh Baker. Fifth-grader Levi Waymire won the twist contest.

Additionally, third graders shared their knowledge of instrument families after building and creating an instrument out of household materials.

Mason Fosbrink, Faith Lee, Aubrey Graham and Lillian Greathouse received trophies for their homemade instruments.

“It is always great to see how they connect with all of the instruments we talk about, with items they have at home to create masterpieces,” said Carolyn Weddle, Crothersville Elementary School music teacher. “We love when they work hard to make sure they even make a sound as well.”
