Seymour

The Seymour baseball team was back in action on Friday and Saturday, hosting Jennings County on Friday, before hosting Beech Grove and North Harrison on Saturday.

Against Jennings, Brady Harpe threw a complete game, striking out nine Panthers in a 4-2 win.

On Saturday, the Owls faced the Hornets first, dominating Beech Grove 16-0 for their 8th win of the season. The second inning was detrimental for the Hornets, as Seymour piled on 10 runs in the inning. Against Beech Grove, Bret Perry, recorded two hits to lead the team, recording a triple and a home run in the win. Parker Thompson also recorded two hits.

The Owls offense didn’t stop at 16 runs against North Harrison, defeating the Cougars 17-7 in the second game on Saturday. Thompson and Tylan Nicholson led the way with four RBI’s a piece. Gavin Leavy also drove in three for the Owls. It was the eighth straight win at home for the Owls.

Braden Richey struck out 12 batters over five innings to get the win on the mound over North Harrison.

Seymour will travel to Mitchell looking for their fifth straight win for a game tonight at 6 p.m.

Crothersville

The Tigers played two games on Saturday morning at Edinburgh. In a doubleheader with the Lancers, Crothersville dropped game 1, 12-2, before losing the second matchup 15-7.

Crothersville held a 6-3 lead over Edinburgh in the second game after three innings. Edinburgh responded with four run innings in the fifth, sixth and seventh frame to take the 8 run win.

The team will travel to Jac-Cen-Del tonight for a matchup at 5:30 p.m.

Softball

Crothersville

The Tigers hosted the Christian Academy of Indiana on Friday at Crothersville. The Warriors came out on top, winning the game 18-4. Crothersville fell into a 5-0 hole, but scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning to make it 5-3. The Warriors then had an 11-run second inning, eventually ending the game in the fifth inning.

Grace Walker picked up an RBI for Crothersville, grounding out into a fielder’s choice to third to score Lauren Colwell in the first inning.

The Tigers will host South Central on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.

Seymour

Seymour softball was in three contests over the weekend. Seymour hosted Silver Creek on Friday evening, before competing in two more on Saturday at the Plainfield Invite.

Seymour dropped the game with the Dragons on Friday 6-4.

On Saturday, the Owls dropped the opener to Plainfield 7-0. Seymour then defeated Decatur Central 8-5 to split their games for the day. The girls scored four runs in the top of the seventh to grab the win.

In the win over Decatur Central, Zoe Williams recorded three hits to lead the team. Abby Followell and EmmaKae Sweet also recorded two hits. Phoebe Underwood started the game for Seymour, lasting four innings, allowing three runs and striking out two batters.

Taylor Stuckwisch pitched in relief, going all three final innings, allowing just one run and striking out two players. The Owls will now travel to Charlestown tonight at 5:30, before hosting Floyd Central tomorrow in a HHC game at 6 p.m.

Brownstown

The Lady Braves traveled to Orleans on Friday for a matchup with the Bulldogs. The girls defeated Orleans 3-1 to grab a win, behind a complete game from Rylee May. The pitcher went all seven innings, allowing seven hits and one run, striking out seven batters in the victory.

Kyndle Huddleston led the way on offense, hitting a two run home run in the top of the seventh inning to grab the lead. Huddleston had all three RBI’s in the win and two hits to lead the team.

Brownstown then competed in the Warrior Invitational at Whiteland on Saturday. The Braves dropped their game with Hamilton Southeastern 14-0. Brownstown then faced Whiteland, dropping that matchup, 7-3 to fall to 6-4 on the season.

The Lady Braves host Henryville tonight at 5:30 p.m. The girls also host Madison tomorrow at 5:30 p.m.

The Braves competed at Jasper Sultan’s Run on Saturday. Finishing in 10th place out of 12 schools, against a lot of bigger schools. Hamilton Southeastern won the meet with a score of 297.

Brownstown scored a 341, led by Micah Sheffer who carded a 74. Matthew Reedy followed with an 85, while Smith Hackman had a 90. Caiden Gwin scored a 92, with Collin Downing shooting a 96. Brownstown competes against Columbus East on Tuesday, beginning at 4:30 p.m.

The Tigers’ golf team opened their season on Friday at Westwood Golf Course. Senior Logen O’Sullivan led the way with a 54 in his 9-holes of work. Junior Beau Napier followed with 55 for the boys. Crothersville competes at Champions Pointe Golf Course in Henryville on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.

Trinity Lutheran

The Cougars hosted Greenwood Christian on Thursday out at Trinity High School for some girls’ tennis. Trinity would sweep the opposition to win the meet 5-0.

Trinity No. 1, Drew Hubbard defeated Brooke Potter, 6-1, and 6-1. Presley Meyer swept her opponent in the second match 6-0, and 6-0. Cougars No. 3, Liza Vaughn defeated Hope Schmidt 6-2, and 6-1.

In doubles action, Trinity’s Emily Keller and Natalee Martinez defeated Izzy Snell and Brenna Noble, 6-0, and 6-1. The second match had Taylor Kramer and Olivia Pollert defeating Kady Cantrip and Tristyn Delph, 6-2 and 6-1.

The Lady Cougars travel to Shawe Memorial for a match tonight at 5:30 p.m.

The Lady Braves hosted Salem on Friday night at Brownstown Central High School, defeating the Lions. 4-1. In singles action, Lions No.1, Sidney Burton defeated Jenna Bolte, 6-1 and 6-0.

Brownstown won the remaining matches. In the second singles match, Brynn Burton downed Mayce Crane, 6-2 and 6-1. Avery Harrison won her match 6-4, and 6-3 over Raelee Cockerill.

In one doubles, Brownstown’s Kaitlyn Williams and Bella Brown defeated Flora Wade and Kinley Howey, 6-4 and 6-3. Audrey Scarlett and Genna Preston downed Lili Gilstrap and Cally Karmire, 6-2, and 6-1.

Brownstown hosts Charlestown tonight at 5 p.m.
