Loretta Irene (Maschino) Henkle passed away peacefully at Lutheran Community Home on April 13, 2024. She was 100 years old, the oldest and longest-serving member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church. She was born in Jennings County on October 22, 1923, to the late Frank and Mary (Vogel) Maschino and was the last living of eleven children.

Loretta graduated from Seymour School in 1940 at the age of 16. Six years later, she married Theodore Henkle, and they spent 56 wonderful years together until his passing in 2002. They enjoyed many years of bowling in leagues and tournaments with friends and family and watching all types of sports. Loretta loved to crochet, and she crocheted blankets for all her children, 23 grandchildren, and 52 great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed spending time at family picnics with her many nieces and nephews. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella and the Rosary Society of St. Ambrose Church, Knights of Columbus, VFW, and the American Legion Auxiliary. She worked at the Hominy Mill, Gardner Box Factory, and was The St Ambrose Church secretary for 30 years. Loretta was deeply faithful in everyday life.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her children, Karen (Jim) Wilson, Tim (Rhonda) Henkle, Debbie (Jeff) Miller, and Rob (Vikki) Henkle; daughter-in-law, Jane Henkle; son-in-law, Rick Peters; and sister-in law, Patricia Maschino of Texas.

Preceding her in death are her beloved husband, Theodore; her parents, listed above; children, James, Joseph, and Daniel Henkle and Jane (Henkle) Peters; grandchild, Kyle Henkle; and great-grandchild, Kamille Walls.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, April 19, 2024, at 12:00 pm at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 325 South Chestnut Street, Seymour. Burial will immediately follow at St. Ambrose Cemetery. A Rosary Service will be held Thursday, April 18 at 3:45 pm followed by visitation 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Voss &Sons Funeral Services, 316 North Chestnut Street. Friends may also call at St. Ambrose Church, Friday, April 19 from 11:00 am until the time of the Mass.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Ambrose Catholic Church.
