Library offers adult and teen programs in May

The Friends of the Jackson County Public Library is sponsoring a Celtic Music program for all ages at 1 p.m. May 18 at the Seymour Library. Registration is not required.

Emily Ann and Kelly Thompson previously performed at the library as Hybrid Strings to kick off the 2010 and 2011 summer reading programs.

All three library locations are offering free programs for adults ages 18 and older to create pressed flower bookmarks in May. Seymour’s program on May 20 is full, but a few more adults that are interested can join the wait list for this program or attend one at the other branches.

Crothersville’s is on Friday, May 24, at 3 p.m. May 24 with required registration by May 22 and a limit of 10 adults. Medora’s is at 4 p.m. May 28 with required registration by May 23 and a limit of 10 adults.

Volunteer Purdue Extension Master Gardener Trina Roark is assisting with the library’s second plant swap at the Seymour Library’s Outdoor Tent from 10 a.m. to noon May 29. Registration is not required. Attendees must have at least one plant to swap. All pest-free and healthy items must be labeled with the type of plant and care instructions.

Free programs for teens in grades 6-12 are also offered at the Seymour Library.

Short Story Writing Workshop is at 5 p.m. May 7 where teens will write their own short story. Registration is required by May 3 with a limit of 15 teens.

Perler Bead Party is at 5 p.m. May 21 where teens can bring a design to life with perler beads. Registration is required by May 17 with a limit of 15 teens.
