Seymour

The Owls faced off with Hoosier Hills Conference opponent in Bedford North Lawrence on Monday evening. In a close contest, Bedford edged Seymour 5-4 to improve to 6-1 on the season.

Seymour took an early 2-1 lead after one, before the Stars responded with three in the second frame. Seymour made an effort with two runs in the sixth inning, but fell short to the Stars.

The Owls fell to 5-2 on the season, led by Jack Pennington who recorded two hits and two RBI’s. Aaron Holt recorded a hit and two RBI’s as well.

Bedford was led by Cal Gates, who had two hits, including a home run. The team faced Madison Tuesday, and now prepares for a home game against Jennings County on Friday at 6 p.m.

Brownstown Central

The Braves picked up their second win of the season over Salem on Monday in baseball, defeating the Lions 3-2. Trent Lowery doubled in the bottom of the fifth inning to score Jaxson Johnson and take the lead for good.

Brownstown got out to a 2-0 lead after the first inning, but Salem responded with a two-run fourth, before Lowery finished the job in the fifth inning.

Dalton Reedy threw a ‘gem’ for the Braves, pitching a complete game, allowing one hit and two runs, none of them being earned. He struck out 9 Salem batters in the winning effort. It was the first loss of the season for the Lions, who beat Providence in their last outing.

Brownstown battled Borden on Tuesday, their next matchup is tomorrow against Austin at 5:30 p.m.

Crothersville

The Tigers traveled to South Central on Monday evening, dropping the matchup with the Rebels 27-4. Crothersville falls to 1-2 on the 2023-24 season. The Rebels hit three home runs and combined for 15 hits as a team.

The Tigers faced the Christian Academy of Indiana on Tuesday, and will now prepare for a doubleheader with Edinburgh on Saturday beginning at 10 a.m.

Softball

Trinity Lutheran

The Cougar softball team faced off with nearby Jennings County on Monday evening. Jennings added a run in the first inning, before pouring on 15 more in the third through fifth innings to defeat Trinity 16-0 in five innings. The Cougars fell to 7-2 on the season, facing Henryville on Tuesday.

Trinity will now prepare to face South Ripley at home on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

Boys’ Golf

Brownstown Central

Brownstown hosted Scottsburg and Brown County in a home golf triangular on Monday evening. The Braves tied a school record with their low score of 147.

Micah Sheffer shot 3-under par with a 32. Caiden Gwin carded a 36, while Smith Hackman recorded a 39. Matthew Reedy scored a 40, Collin Downing had a 43, while Cole Brelage carded a 50.

The Brownstown JV team finished in fourth place, led by Drew Shelton who scored a 49. Carter Covert followed with a 51, Isaiah Sitterding scored a 56, with Caden Waskom carding a 57. Trey Issacs finished with a 57, while Ty Brown had a 58.

The Braves will travel to Shadowood Golf Course to face Seymour on Friday at 5 p.m.
