Boys Golf

Brownstown Central

The Braves boys’ golf team traveled to the Edgewood Invite on Saturday, bringing home the top spot in the tournament with a team score of 324.

Micah Sheffer brought some of his best for Brownstown Central, earning medalist honors with a score of 70. Sheffer shot one-under par for the day. Matthew Reedy followed with an 81, Caiden Gwin finished with an 86, while Collin Downing ended with an 87. Cole Brelage finished his round with a score of 90.

The Braves JV team finished in 9th place with a team score of 383. Smith Hackman led the team with a score of 88, followed by Isaiah Sitterding (90) and Carter Covert (97). Drew Shelton ended with a 103, while Caden Waskom finished her round with a 108.

Brownstown will host Brown County and Scottsburg on Monday at 5 p.m.

Seymour

After facing off with Columbus North on Tuesday, the meet was postponed due to weather, with the Owls having to finish the meeting on Friday. Brown County would not be apart of the Friday meet. Seymour would win the boys’ part of the meeting 77-55. But would drop the girls meet to Columbus North, 110-22.

Seymour will travel to Madison tomorrow for a matchup with the Cubs at 5:30 p.m.

Baseball

Trinity Lutheran

The Cougars had to cancel their home tournament and head to Louisville to face Holy Cross on Saturday. Holy Cross would defeat Trinity 6-3 in the opening matchup. Trinity scored three runs to tie the game at 3 in the fifth inning, before the opposition added three more in the sixth to secure the win.

The Cougars host Henryville tonight at 5:30 p.m. Trinity will then travel to Charlestown tomorrow for a matchup at 6 p.m.

Brownstown Central

The Braves played their first game since the end of March, due to rain and wet field conditions. Brownstown faced off with Hauser and Lawrenceburg on Saturday, defeating Hauser 14-4, before losing to Lawrenceburg, 8-5.

In the win over Hauser, Brownstown combined for 10 hits as a team in the ten run win. Grant Killey had the most with three, followed by Trent Lowery, who had two hits for the Braves. Garland led the team in RBI’s with three, followed by Lowery, Grayson Cassidy and Lane Pendleton who all had two runs batted in.

Against Lawrenceburg, Brownstown fell in a 7-0 hole after the first inning. The team responded with a five run third inning, but fell short 8-5 to their opponent. Killey, Pendleton and Chick Tiemeyer all led the team with two hits each.

Brownstown will host Salem tonight and then host Borden on Tuesday to kick off their week.

Softball

Trinity Lutheran

The Lady Cougars continued their ‘hot’ start to open the 2023-24 season, routing Switzerland County on Saturday to improve to 7-1 on the season. Trinity defeated Switzerland County 16-0 in five innings.

Grace Lance held the opposing hitters to just one hit, shutting down the Pacers with ten strikeouts in five shutout innings. She also led the way on offense with four hits, including a triple. Lance also drove in two runs on the day.

DeAnna Rothert, Dianna Munoz, and Addi Burcham all recorded two hits in the dominant win. The team racked up 16 runs off of 16 hits.

Trinity also stole 12 bases, led by Morgan Brewer who had three, followed by Brooklyn Whipker, Olivia Cain and Zoey Dulaney, who all stole two bags.

The Cougars host Jennings County Monday for a matchup at 5 p.m.

Girls Tennis

Trinity Lutheran

The Lady Cougars tennis team visited Clarksville on Saturday for a matchup on the courts. Trinity would drop the match 4-1. Trinity’s only win would come from Natalee Martinez who receieved a forfeit in the No. 3 singles matchup.

In the first singles match, Zaynub Kazani defeated Presley Meyer, 6-2, and 6-4. Hailey Bowden defeated Adi Otte in the second matchup, winning 6-1, and 6-2 over Trinity.

In doubles action, Kaylen Lemke and Josie Tatum of Clarksville defeated Taylor Kramer and Olivia Pollert of Trinity, 6-2, and 6-0. The second doubles match also went to Clarksville with the team of Katlyn Kirk and Haedyn Worky defeating Ava Malone and Enola Vandercar, 6-2 and 6-2.

Trinity will now prepare to travel to Jennings County for a matchup on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
