A Florida man was arrested Sunday night after leading officers on a vehicle pursuit through the city before striking a parked vehicle in downtown Seymour, police report.

Cooper C. Collier, 20, of Palm Harbor is charged with resisting law enforcing in a vehicle, reckless driving, criminal recklessness and leaving the scene of a property damage crash, according to an incident release from Lt. C.J. Foster.

At approximately 10:36 p.m., patrol officers with the Seymour Police Department attempted to stop a Dodge Challenger that was clocked at 108 mph traveling west on Tipton Street from the area of Interstate 65.

Collier fled from officers at a high rate of speed disregarding the safety for other vehicular traffic highway, police said.

Troopers with the Indiana State Police had originally attempted to catch up with Collier as he was traveling at a high rate of speed on the interstate, Foster said.

Collier continued west on Tipton Street until making an abrupt turn south on Chestnut Street. As he turned south on Chestnut Street, Collier struck a parked vehicle before coming to a rest on the sidewalk in the 200 block of South Chestnut. Officers were able to apprehend Colliers and also determined he had struck another passenger vehicle in the 1800 block of East Tipton Street prior to crashing on Chestnut Street, Foster said.

Collier declined to be interviewed and was taken to the Jackson County Jail without incident.
