Rick Bannister, age 56, of Brownstown, IN, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2024, at his home. Rick was born on May 4, 1967, in Seymour, IN, to the late Ronald and Judy (Davidson) Bannister. On December 3, 2004, in Seymour, IN, he married the love of his life, Cristi (Burcham) Bannister. Rick served his country with pride, enlisting in the Army in 1984. During his service, he received the Occupation Medal of World War II for his time served in Berlin, Germany. After his military service, Rick worked as a foreman at a Kobelco steel plant for 16 years, where he demonstrated dedication and leadership. He was a proud graduate of Medora High School, Class of 1985. Rick was deeply involved in his community and held memberships at the Crothersville VFW and served on the Crothersville Vernon Township Volunteer Fire Department. He was also one of the founders of the Follow the Son motorcycle group, where he shared his passion for riding with others. In his leisure time, Rick enjoyed working as a bouncer at Max’s Clubhouse for 4 years. He found solace and joy in riding motorcycles, going on vacations to the beach and mountains with his wife Cristi and family, and exploring the countryside in his truck with his best friend, Jimmy. Rick is survived by his loving wife, Cristi Bannister of Brownstown, IN; his children: Kara Bannister of Brownstown, IN, Koty (Jessica) Bannister of Seymour, IN, Amanda (Daniel) Worley of Scottsburg, IN, Justin Bannister of Brownstown, IN, Hollie (Dylan) Stout of Brownstown, IN, Jake (Nikki) Axsom of Brownstown, IN, and Amanda Axsom of Brownstown, IN; nine cherished grandchildren: Alexis, Raelynn, Kolten, Eric, J.J., Caroline, Macy, Byron, Avery his sister, Lisa (Doug) Lewis of Paris Crossing, IN; his brother-in-law, Marty (June) Morgan of Austin, IN; his nephew, Tony Bannister; niece, Bethany Lewis and great-nephew, Draven Bannister; and his stepmother, Debbie Stidham Brown. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ronald and Judy (Davidson) Bannister, and his brother, Douglas Duane Bannister. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 14, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Adams Family Funeral Homes &Crematory in Crothersville. Family and friends may visit on Saturday, April 13, 2024, from Noon until 5:00 PM at the funeral home and also from Noon until the time of the service on Sunday. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Crothersville VFW, c/o Adams Family Funeral Homes &Crematory, 110 East Howard Street, Crothersville, IN 47229. Rick’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
