Tickets, sponsorships available for SHS reunion event

Erik Zakrzewski of the Seymour Museum Center has announced the museum’s summer gala “School Dayz! School Dayz!” Reunion.

The event will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Aug. 24 at the museum, 220 N. Chestnut St.,

The night will showcase decades of Seymour High School classmates, events, sports and musicals. Artifacts and memorabilia is currently being collected to showcase at the event.

Also on display will be memories of schools that were consolidated into the Seymour school system, including Reddington, Cox, Clara D. Carter, Walnut Grove, Woodstock and Cortland.

Graduates are encouraged to share memories, pictures and artifacts to be displayed during the evening. Items can be donated or loaned by contacting any board member or committee member.

The Meedy and Eliza Shield Award will be presented to Fred and Karen Pollert as thanks for their donation of a 1914 Model T Ford. The car will be unveiled during the evening of the event. Other donors will be recognized in the event souvenir brochure.

Options to sponsor the evening include ads in the program available at the following levels:

a. Conductor: $5000 for a 1 page ad, 6 tickets

b. Engineer: $2500 to 4999 for a ½ page ad, 4 tickets

c. Fireman: $1,000 to $2,499 for a ¼ page ad, 4 tickets

d. Porter: $500 to $999 for a ¼ page ad, 2 tickets

e. Station Master: $250 to $499 for a ⅛ page ad, 2 tickets

Tickets are $100 for individuals and $175 for couples. Sponsorships and tickets can be procured by calling Bob Kamman at 812-216-1500. Tickets also will be available at Artistic Impressions and the Jackson County Visitor Center beginning May 1.

“We look forward to again welcoming the community to the museum and remembering all of the school spirit from the first Seymour school to the corporation of today,” Zakrzewski said. “Also included will be model train exhibits and the unveiling of the newest acquisition to the transportation exhibit, a 1914 Model T Ford donated to the museum by Mr. & Mrs. Fred Pollert.” stated Zakrzewski.

Zakrzewski, Len Hauersperger, Kevin Green, Bob Kamman, Eva Auleman, Bob Bicknell, Mindy Clay, Randy Ent, Jerry Hackney, Bill Hiday, Carol King, Ruth Ann Rebber, Bill Ulrey and Margaret Wilson serve on the board of directors for the museum.

Museum volunteers include Elsie Brooks, Connie Gerth, Betty Chastain, Mae Krumme, Nancy Fleming, Donnis Seale and Shelley Whitcomb.
