Paul Norman Darlage, age 83, of Seymour, passed away on Monday, April 8, 2024, at the Lutheran Community Home, Seymour.

Mr. Darlage was a lifetime active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sauers, where he held various church offices.

Paul loved his family and loved spending time with them, and he was also a friend to many people.

He was a life-long farmer, as he was born and raised on the family farm. He helped his parents on the farm at an early age and continued working on the farm during his lifetime. He loved being on the farm, and he had a passion for all his livestock. Paul was also a Pioneer Seed Corn salesman for many years. He enjoyed woodworking, “fixing junk”, talking German, and traveling with his late wife, Melba.

Born on September 18, 1940, at his home on the family farm, Paul was the son of Harry and Edna (Moenning) Darlage, both of whom preceded him in death. On March 29, 1964, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sauers, he married Melba Mae Benter, and she preceded him in death on August 12, 2018.

Survivors include one son, Joseph Michael (Mary) Darlage of Freetown; one daughter, Sharry Rothrock of Seymour; son-in-law, Jarrod Rothrock of Seymour; six grandchildren: Jesse (Adara) Meek, Madison Darlage (Brent Sawyer), Macey Rothrock, William Rothrock, Bella Rothrock, and Carlos Rothrock; two great-grandchildren: Myrah Meek and Callie Meek; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Glenn and Carolyn Benter; sister-in-law, Marilyn Stuckwisch; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Betty and Leslie Tormoehlen; brother-in-law, John Surenkamp; and several nieces and nephews.

Paul was also preceded in death by a grandson, Zachary Rothrock; his brother, Willard Darlage; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lawrence and Martha (Stuckwisch) Benter; brother-in-law, Leland Stuckwisch; sister-in-law, Patty Surenkamp; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Alvin and Wilma Benter.

Funeral services for Paul Darlage will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sauers, with Pastor Craig Muhlbach officiating. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sauers.

Interment will be at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sauers Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sauers, or St. John’s Lutheran School, Sauers.
