Jackson County Special Olympics plans firetruck pull fundraiser

Special Olympics Indiana Jackson County and the Seymour Fire Department are presenting the inaugural Firetruck Pull on Saturday in the parking lot at Walmart Supercenter, 1600 E. Tipton St., Seymour.

The pull starts at 2 p.m. and features 15 teams of up to 10 people who will work to pull a firetruck 50 feet the fastest.

The teams may start registering at noon, and the public is invited to come by after noon to check out the event. There will be a first responder vehicle display for people to see vehicles up close, Walmart will be selling food and drinks and there will be other activities.

Awards will be presented to the team, individual and Special Olympics athlete that raises the most money and the winning team.

Proceeds will benefit Special Olympics Indiana Jackson County, which provides year-round sports training and competition for individuals with intellectual disabilities ages 8 and up.
