Schneck Medical Center is hosting its second community health fair, SchneckWell, from 7 to 11 a.m. April 20 in the Schneck Professional Building at 411 W. Tipton St., Seymour.

The event features free and affordable resources to promote healthy living for everyone, according to a news release.

Stephanie Furlow, director of marketing and public relations for the Seymour hospital, said the health fair is an event for the community to foster awareness and empower individuals to prioritize their well-being.

“From free and reduced-cost health screenings to expert advice from healthcare professionals, SchneckWell will provide education on preventive measures, healthy lifestyle choices, and access to resources for various healthcare needs,” she said.

Some specific types of health resources offered include free breast, cervical, and prostate screenings, free colorectal cancer screening kits, reduced-cost blood work, pharmaceutical takebacks, heel DEXA scans, adult and pediatric vaccinations such as influenza, polio and COVID, and more. Some of these services require you to be registered, so pre-registration is recommended to ensure people can get the help they need. Otherwise, walk-ins may be available.

If you have kids with you, the Teddy Bear Clinic is available, recommended for children ages three through 10.

Furlow described the Teddy Bear Clinic as “a fun opportunity for children to learn about basic healthcare treatments and feel less anxious when they go to the doctor.

“And, every child gets a free teddy bear friend to take home,” she said.
