0

The anticipated mail date for taxes for Jackson County residents is April 9.

Due dates this year are May 10 for the spring installment and November 12 for the fall installment.

The Peoples Bank will not be accepting tax payments this year, but The State Bank of Medora will continue collecting payments.

Jackson County Treasurer Kathy Hohenstreiter is encouraging everyone to pay their taxes through one of the following options beside The Medora State Bank:

  • Online payments may be made with an e-check, debit or credit card. Visit jacksoncounty.in.gov. Links will be located on the lower left corner of the homepage. Click “pay taxes” to pay yours here, or you may visit the Forte pay site at billpay.forte.net/jacksoncointax, or call 877-690-3729 and enter JCODE 2498. There is a $4 charge for debit and a $2 charge for e-checks up to $50,000. Credit card payments charge different rates depending on the card.
  • Mail payments must be postmarked by the due date at the post office to ensure on-time payments. If you include a self-addressed stamped envelope with your payment, a receipt of your payment will be mailed to you.
  • Payments also may be made at the treasurer’s office in the courthouses at 111 S. Main St., Brownstown.
  • A dropbox is located on the back entrance of the courthouse. Payments delivered to that box be posted the following day. Payments placed in drop box on the due date are considered on-time payments.
