Trinity Lutheran

South Ripley was the opponent for the Cougars on Saturday, traveling on the road to face the Raiders. The team also faced off with Austin in the round robin tournament.

The Cougars fell to South Ripley 5-4, after the Raiders took a 3-0 advantage in the bottom of the fifth inning. Trinity responded with a 4-run sixth frame before South Ripley walked it off in the bottom of the seventh.

Landon Adams had the big day for the Raiders, driving in three runs and recording two hits. Chase Bode, Drake Goodpaster and Jackson Trueblood had all the RBI’s for the Cougars. Goodpaster led the team in hits with two.

In game 2, Trueblood was getting a lot of whiffs on the mound against Austin, fanning 12 batters. Trueblood, Kowan Gross, and Bode combined to pitch a no-hitter in the 2-1 win over the Eagles.

The Cougars will travel to Rising Sun on Tuesday to play at 5:30 p.m.

Brownstown Central

The Braves wrapped up their week with three baseball contests on Thursday and Friday. Brownstown battled Greenwood on Thursday night, losing that matchup 8-7.

The game went 10 innings as the Woodsmen walked off the Braves in the season opener. Trent Lowery had the big day at the plate for Brownstown with 3 runs batted in and a home run. He also pitched 4.2 innings of relief, striking out six batters while allowing two runs.

Brownstown then faced the Norwell Knights and the Platteville Hillmen, a team from Wisconsin on Friday. The Braves dropped both contests, losing to Norwell 5-0 before losing to Platteville 17-5.

The Braves travel to Orleans for a game on Thursday at 5 p.m.

The Owls battled Lanesville on Saturday, dominating the Eagles 12-3 to remain unbeaten at 2-0.

Seymour will now face off with North Harrison who sits at 2-1 on the season after defeating the Christian Academy 11-1.

Softball

Trinity Lutheran

The Cougars hosted Jac-Cen-Del on Saturday morning in softball. Trinity dominated the opposition 10-0 to improve to 3-0 on the season. Laura Roeder and Morgan Brewer crushed home runs for the Cougars in the victory. Zoey Dulaney racked up two RBI’s off two hits, while Brewer led the team with 3.

Trinity will host Orleans today at 5:30 p.m.

Brownstown Central

The Lady Braves softball team faced off with Jennings County on Thursday, dropping the contest in a thrilling 8-7 finish.

Rylee May led the Braves in hits (3) and RBI’s (4). May along with Lyla Huffman smoked a ball over the fence in the contest with Huffman recording two hits and three runs batted in.

May took the loss on the mound, giving up eight runs, two of them being earned, striking out 3 Panther batters in the process. She pitched the entire seven innings on the night.

The Braves and Panthers collected ten hits in the game. Brownstown will face Bedford North Lawrence today at 5:30 p.m.

Golf

Seymour and Trinity Lutheran

The Seymour Invite took place on Saturday at Shadowood Golf Course, with the Owls and Cougars competing in the event. Brownstown Central was scheduled to compete, but did not due to the boys basketball team playing in their state title game.

Bloomington South would take the tournament with the top score of 307, led by Ball State committ in Happy Gilmore, and that’s not a typo. Guerin Catholic finished in second place with a team score of 311.

The Owls finished in seventh place, led by Luke Baker who carded an 84 for Seymour in 18 holes of work. Noah Wineinger scored a 91, while Zarik Black finished with a 97. Kirby Tormoehlen ended his day with a 105, Trenton Morris finished with a score of 109.

Trinity finished in 9th place with a team score of 448. Alex Overgaard ended his round with a 103 to lead the Cougars, followed by Wylie Jones with a 104. Nolan Teipen carded a 117, while Rylan Adair finished his round with a score of 124. Sam Lorenz ended his round with a 131.

The Cougars compete at Austin on Tuesday at 5 p.m, before traveling to face Salem at 5 p.m. on Friday. The Owls compete at Southwestern (Hanover) on Tuesday at 4:45 p.m.
