DAR accepting orders for veterans banners

0

From Memorial Day (May 27) through Veteran’s Day (Nov. 11), the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution is preparing a banner project to recognize active military and veterans alike.

As part of that project, banners featuring military will be displayed on streetlight poles in Seymour and Crothersville.

Any veteran or military personnel, living or deceased, that have a valid connection to Jackson County are eligible to take part in this event. These banners will include name, branch of service and conflict, if applicable.

Applications to have a banner displayed are available at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1925, 311 S. Jackson Park Drive, Seymour; American Legion Post 89, 402 W. Second St., Seymour; Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1083, 1103 W. Main St., Crothersville; Jackson County Public Library, 302 W. Second St., Seymour; and on the Fort Vallonia DAR and Smalltown Strong Facebook pages. The deadline has been extended to April 30.

Applying early is recommended to ensure spots are available. These applications, once filled out, need to be submitted with a payment of $150 and a high-quality picture in uniform. Once these banners are removed, they will be returned to the purchaser.
