Roland L. Kelsch, 89, of Seymour, Indiana passed away on March 14, 2024 at Schneck Medical Center. Roland was born in Columbus, Indiana on March 5, 1935, to the late Harold Kelsch and Anna Mae Hemmer. He married Cinette Johnson Kelsch on Jan 21,1967, and she preceded him in death in 2016.

Roland served his country the Air Force Reserve where he was transferred to the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical Institute in Miami, Florida. There, he became a certified Airframe Technician. He went on to serve in the United States Air Force. After leaving the service, he opened Metal Air Service at Freeman Field in Seymour where he worked on airplanes. He operated that business for many years until his retirement.

Roland was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was also an active member of the American Legion and the VFW.

He is survived by his daughters, Terry (Kenny) Riley and Tammi Jean Dannis; six grandchildren, Sherri (Ben) Campbell, Chad (Kristi) Reedy, Carrie (Jon) O’Sullivan, Joshua Birch, Kara (Justin) Piercefield, and Aarika (Anthony) Fye; and ten great grandchildren.

Roland is preceded in death by his parents, listed above; his stillborn son, Todd Eric Kelsch; his wife Cinette; and three brothers.

A funeral service will be held at Voss and Sons, 316 North Chestnut Street in Seymour, Saturday, March 23, at 1:00 p.m. Rev Martin Wright will officiate. Friends and family may call at the funeral home Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will immediately follow at Daugherty Cemetery in Garden City.
