Would make park school immune

Patrons of Park school are bending efforts to make that school 100 per cent immune against diphtheria before the fall term of school opens. Their campaign was intensified at the meeting of the Park Parent-Teacher held Friday evening when Dr. W.H. McKain of the state board of health gave an illustrated lecture on the prevention of diphtheria and cancer.

Oil in White River from pipe break not to city yet

Although cities upstream in White River were concerned today with oil in the river, local employees of the Seymour Water Company at the pumping station at Rockford said no oil had been observed on the water here. Probably not enough time has elapsed for it to reach this vicinity, they said.

1,000 attend Pops concert

Seymour High School’s department of bands presented another outstanding musical program Friday night in the SHS fieldhouse, where a crowd of 1,000 persons gathered for the 1974 “Pops Concert.”

The audience, seated at tables on three sides of the gym on both the ground floor and the balcony was encouraged to relax and enjoy the music in a “night club” atmosphere enhanced by candles on each table and blue and white crepe paper covering the walls.

Bell’s Ford recovery under way

Half the span of Bell’s Ford Bridge that collapsed into White River last month has been fished from the water, with the other half expected to be pulled out by early next week.

In the meantime, local preservationists continue to seek funding for reconstruction of the span once it’s rescued from the river’s waters.
