Lutheran Dartball League results through 19 weeks

Week 19 of the Lutheran Dartball League is behind us. The homestretch of the season is beginning.

After Monday’s games we have just two weeks left in the regular season. We are rounding third and heading for home, as Joe Nuxhall would say.

For the second week in a row league leading Sauers E lost two games. Monday it was at the hands of Jonesville.

After losing the first game 6-4, Jonesville came back with a pair of one run victories 3-2 and 4-3. Sauers E’s lead is two games over second place Dudleytown Mets.

With their top batter in the hospital the Mets struggled to score runs. Visiting Lutheran Lake took down the Mets in game 1 scoring 4 runs in the fourth, one in the sixth and two more in the eighth for a 7-3 win. Travis led Lutheran Lake with 3 hite, a run and 2 RBI’s.

The Lakers scored two runs in the first inning of game two. The Mets got two in the fourth to tie the game. Lutheran Lake scored two more in the eighth but the Mets tallied two runs in the bottom of the eighth for a tie. The Mets got a lead off single in the bottom of the ninth but couldn’t get the key hit.

Finally in the bottom of the 11th inning the Mets got a walk-off triple from yours truly for the 5-4 victory. In game three the Lakers scored a run in the first inning.

The Mets came back with two in the second. In the top of the nineth Lutheran Lakle scored a run to tie the game. In the bottom of the nineth the Mets got the walk-off winning hit by Jeff Wehmiller.

In a battle of contending teams Wegan W swept Wegan B by scores of 6-4, 7-5 and 8-5. The three wins moved Wegan W to third place one game behind the Mets.

White Creek N had three close games with Dudleytown D winning all three 6-5, 4-2 and 5-4.

In game one White Creek scored three runs in the ninth for the victory. White Creek has won nine games in a row to move up to a tie for fourth place. Immanuel 1 lost two games to Immanuel Darty to drop into a tie for sixth place with Wegan B.

In another close battle Brownstown 4 won two games from Borchers. In game one Brownstown 4 held a 1-0 lead until the nineth when Borchers got a run to tie the game. Brownstown 4 came back in the bottom of the nineth for the walk-off to win 2-1.

Wegan A had the hot bats Monday scoring 23 runs to sweep Wegan C 5-3, 15-4 and 3-2. The biggest match on tap for Monday will feature Sauers B playing rival and league leading Sauers E.

Wednesday the league is meeting to draw for the tourney which will be held in the Sauers Gym on April 1st. The Dartball Scholarship applications have been turned over to the judges. There were 19 applications turned in for the two available scholarships.
