Medora Volleyball Fundraiser

The Hornets high school volleyball team is hosting a fundraising volleyball tournament on Saturday, Apr. 27th. The cost to enter is $120 for a team of six players. Any other extra players are another $20 each, with the fee due the day of the tournament.

The entire tournament will take place at Medora High School inside the gymnasium, starting at 9 a.m. There will be a series of round robin games to start, followed by a double-elimination tournament.

The winning team will recieve 50 percent of the total buy-in.

Regional Basketball Pairings

The schedules for Saturday’s Seymour, Washington and Loogootee regionals have been announced.

At Seymour, Switzerland County (15-10) will face Forest Park (17-9) in a Class 2A at 1 p.m., and Batesville (20-5) will play Scottsburg (21-5) in a Class 3A at 4 p.m.

At Washington, Bethesda Christian (20-7) will play Clay City (21-5) in a Class 1A game at 1 p.m., and Brownstown Central (24-4) will face Sullivan (21-5) in a Class 2A game at 4 p.m.

At Loogootee, Christian Academy (22-4) will play Barr-Reeve (23-2) in a Class 1A game at 1 p.m., and Trinity Lutheran (14-11) will play Evansville Christian (23-2) in a Class 1A game at 4 p.m.

IBCA Academic All-State

Three Jackson County athletes were announced to the IBCA Academic All-State teams on Tuesday afternoon. Kendall Sterling of Seymour was selected to the All-State First Team for her hard work in the classroom.

Bret Perry of Seymour was selected as an honorable mention for the Owls boys’ team. The other selection was Parker Hehman of Brownstown Central, who was also chosen as an honorable mention for this hard work this season.

Brownstown Lift Contest Results

The Braves lifting team competed against Bedford North Lawrence on Monday evening, defeating their opponent.

Cash Zumhingst had a night to remember, recording first place in six different categories; Total pounds, Big 3 Index, Bench, Squat, Bench Index, and Squat Index.

Kameron Cunningham took first in Clean Index, but was second in bench index and squat index, only to Zumhingst. Isaac Hutchinson picked up two second place finishes in bench and total points. Jack Pace got second in Clean Index and third in the Big 3 Index.
