Ronald “Ronnie” Vance passed away peacefully on the evening of February 26 th at Our Hospice of South-Central Indiana. He was 87 years old.

Ronnie was born in the town of Seymour, Indiana on January 12, 1937. He was one of eight children to Arthur and Estelle Vance. He was a Sheild’s High School graduate of 1955. Ronnie married Shirley Osborne on August 21, 1955. He worked as a Foreman and retired from Cummins Engineering after 35 years. Ronnie also worked at Redbrush Park for 10+ years.

Ronnie enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger years. He enjoyed raising various types of animals and gardening. Ronnie kept a pristine yard and landscape. He also was an avid IU basketball fan. Ronnie was well loved by his grandchildren and great grandchildren who spent a lot of time visiting with him.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers (Don, Jack, Bob) and his sister (Rita).

Ronnie was survived by his wife, Shirley and his three children: Jeff (Judy) Vance, Mark (Diane)Vance, and Kelly (Greg) Bathgate. His surviving siblings: Janet (Marty) Rose, Pete (Dawn) Vance, Pam (Mike) Lauster. He had seven grandchildren: Jennifer (Bruce) Peak, George Hale, Stefini (Evens) Romilus, Matthew Vance, Jordan (Michael) Cox, Josh Vance, and Jacob (Kylie) Vance. Ronnie had twelve great grandchildren as well: Nikki, Brianna, Bryce, Brinley, Kayci, Kai, Tatum, Kennadi, Kylie, Hazel, Quincy, and Wyatt.

Ronnie generously donated his body to the Anatomical Education Program at Indiana University School of Medicine. This gift will contribute significantly to the advancement of health science education in the state of Indiana. His remains will be placed in the Freetown Cemetery.

Family and friends are invited to the Brownstown Christian Church for a Celebration of Life on March 3rd from 2:00-4:00pm.
