Velma Louise (Edwards) Jackson, of Clearspring passed away peacefully on the night of February 3, 2024, at Salem Crossing Nursing Home. She was 76 years old.

Velma entered this life on January 18, 1948, in Seymour, Indiana to the loving parents, Clyde and Minnie Pearl (Brown) Edwards. She was the sister of Robert, Hershel, Rosemary, Peggy, Helen, Woodrow, Pauline, Josephine, Floyd, and Wayne. She was a graduate of Clearspring High School, Class of 1966. Shortly after graduation, she was united in marriage to Charles “Danny” Jackson on June 11, 1966. From this union of over 45 years, they were blessed with two children, Jeffrey and Donna. Danny preceded her on March 11, 2012

Velma lived in Clearspring her entire life, never moving far from where she grew up. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and Mamaw to her grandchildren. She loved to spend as much time as she could with her grandchildren, and she never met a stranger. Velma worked at the hatchery of Rose Acre. She retired after 27 years.

Her memories will live on with her family, children, Jeff Jackson and his wife Misty of Clearspring, Donna Spurgeon and her husband John of Clearspring, four grandchildren, Brayden Johnson and his fiancée Desiree of Medora, Bailey DeAnna Pfeiffer and her husband Bailey of Freetown, Logan Jackson and her fiancé Seth Hatchett of Brownstown and Chesney Johnson and her fiancé Dane Darlage of Bloomington, and three great-grandchildren, two brothers, Floyd Edwards of Bedford, and Wayne Edwards and his wife Janet of Tell City.

She was preceded by her parents, and siblings, Robert Edwards, Hershel “Short” Edwards, Rosemary Bevers, Peggy Charles, Helen Anderson, Woodrow Edwards, Pauline Edwards, and Josephine Edwards.

A Celebration of Velma’s life will be conducted Clearspring Baptist Church on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at 1 p.m.

Final wishes have been entrusted to Zabel Funeral Home of Brownstown.
