Donald Edward Cox, 91, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, February 19, 2024.

A lifelong resident of Seymour, Donald was born December 6, 1932, to the late Alice Korte Cox. After graduating high school, he served his country in the United States Army. Donald made truck driving his career and took great pride in hauling gas for Swifty Gas Company. He was married to his childhood sweetheart and the love of his life, Bonnie (Kriete) Cox, for 72 years until her passing in 2022. Together, they loved traveling throughout the western United States. Favorite camping destinations included the Black Mountains of South Dakota, Starve Hollow in Indiana, and many locations in Florida. They also loved bowling and dancing, and Donald was known to cut a rug to “Boot Scootin’ Boogie.” In later years, he became notorious for cheating at BINGO and charming the staff at Covered Bridge Health Campus.

Donald is survived by his daughters, Lori (John) Dutcher and Debbie Fleetwood; son, Danny (Betty) Cox; grandchildren, Jennifer (John) Thornton, Mary Lou (Troy) Bradley, Dustin Owens, D.J. (Jessica) Cox, Cassandra (Brenna) Cox, Samantha Hineman, Sidney (Brooke) Wesner, Brooke Aurs, Ashley (Darrin) Chapman, and Gage Morris; 16 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren.

He is preceded is death by his mother, Alice, and wife, Bonnie; daughter, Peggy Cox; and great-granddaughter, Meagan Earnest.

Funeral services for Donald will be held Saturday, February 24 at 11:00 a.m. at Voss &Sons Funeral Services, 316 Chestnut Street, Seymour. Pastors Peter Stuckwisch and Bradley Akey will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will immediately follow at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Seymour.
