The Jackson County Public Library board of trustees conducted an oath of office for continuing board member Eunice Lacey during its meeting Monday at the Seymour Library.

Lacey recently was appointed to a full four-year term by the Brownstown, Crothersville and Medora school boards through Dec. 31, 2027.

The board also received a report from Monica Riley, head of collection development. She oversees the technical services department; orders and withdraws adult nonfiction, children’s and young adult materials and e-resources for all library locations; serves as chairwoman of the Evergreen Indiana cataloging committee; and is president of the Seymour Parks and Recreation Department board.

Riley is working with Stephanie Sluder, youth services manager, on the children’s collection and recently created a separate location for sensory board books.

The board approved changes to the collection development policy that outlined steps for the public to ask for reconsideration of materials. Materials that are challenged can only go to the board once in a five-year period.

The next board meeting will be at 4:30 p.m. March 18 at the Medora Library.
