Trinity Lutheran

The Cougars went on the road to Lanesville on Tuesday for a matchup with the Eagles. Trinity was looking for its 9th win of the season, while Lanesville looked to get back on track for their 4th win of the season.

The Eagles would be outmatched, dropping the game with the Cougars, 64-44. Trinity took a commanding 9-point lead at halftime, leading 25-16 at intermission. Reed Mellencamp led the way with 30 points and 7 rebounds for the Cougars.

Trinity will now prepare to face Rock Creek Academy on Friday evening on the road at 7:30 p.m.

Seymour

The Owls traveled to Greensburg on Tuesday evening for a matchup with the Pirates. Seymour was seeking its 16th win of the season, which hasn’t happened since 2004-05. That team went on to compete for a sectional title, but fell to Jennings County 54-52, after defeating New Albany and Jeffersonville by one point in the first and second rounds.

Seymour was able to get the better of Greensburg last season, defeating the Pirates by five points. This year, Seymour forced Greensburg to have 6 turnovers in 10 minutes of play. Taking the narrow 20-16 lead at halftime. Brady Harpe hit a remarkable three from half-court to close the half.

Seymour would take control in the third, reaching a 10-point lead at 29-19 at one point. The Owls were called on six fouls in the third, while Greensburg wasn’t called for one. Yet, Seymour still held a 29-23 lead after the third period, eventually getting their 16th win, defeating the Pirates 48-40. Seymour would shoot 11-of-13 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter.

Jaylan Johnson had the team high with 25 points. The Greensburg JV team would hang on to defeat the Owls 35-34. Seymour finished their JV season at 10-10.

Seymour will compete next Tuesday at Shelbyville High School at 7:30 p.m.

Crothersville

The Tigers had their hands full on Tuesday evening, traveling down to face the fourth ranked Class 1A team against the Christian Academy of Indiana. The Warriors come into the contest at 16-4, after getting out to a blazing 13-1 start to the 2023-24 season.

Crothersville is sitting at 6-13, dropping their last matchup to Columbus Christian by 7 points over the weekend. The Warriors got out to a fast start, taking the 20-7 lead after the first quarter. Eventually taking a 39-10 advantage at halftime. The Christian Academy would defeat the Tigers, 60-26.

Crothersville is back in action next Tuesday at home against Henryville. That game will take place at 7:30 p.m.

The Crothersville JV team would drop their match by 29 points, losing 53-24 to the JV Warriors.
