Diane Lynne Polly, 75, beloved wife of William E. Polly, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 7, 2024.

Diane was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on June 15, 1948, to the late Frank Eugene and Ida Laverne (Fish) Ballard. She was married to the love of her life, William, for 54 years. She was an avid bowler, enjoying her Tuesday morning leagues and lunches out with her “special girls.” She had a passion for shopping and for reading, especially books by Nicholas Sparks and Danielle Steel. A devoted member of Peter’s Switch Nazarene Church, she served during Vacation Bible School and was well known for her funeral dinner ministry. She also loved singing her church music and the oldies. Diane was no stranger to serving others, as she was one of Seymour’s original volunteer “Candy Stripers” at Schneck Hospital. But by far, her true calling in life was assuring that her family was well cared for. Diane was a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and they were the joy of her life.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her loving husband, William; children, William Andrew, Amy (Bobby) Van Atta, and Amber (Chad) Garner; grandchildren, Casey Pierson, Kaylin Osterman, Logan Garner, Samantha Ghiloni, and Brady Garner; great-grandchildren, Aiden Pierson, Kai Pierson, Myles Pierson, Zayli’ana Evans, Harmonie Lynn Pierson, and Zy’aire Evans; sister, Linda Ballard Crawford; and her bestie, Peggy Polly.

She is preceded in death by her parents, listed above; brother, Shorty Eugene Ballard; and sister, Rita K. Ballard Lucas.

Funeral services for Diane will be held on Tuesday, February 13, at 11:00AM at Peter’s Switch Nazarene Church, 9528N County Road 760E, in Seymour. Rev. Damon Spurgeon will officiate assisted by Pastor Keith Ross. Visitation will be held Monday February 12, from 5-8 pm at Voss and Sons Funeral Service, 316 N. Chestnut Street, Seymour, and again Tuesday at the church from 10 am until the time of the service. Burial will immediately follow at Riverview Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to Peter’s Switch Nazarene Church, for the Switch Kids.
