Violet Lucille Gudgel, age 77, wife of the late Charles E. Gudgel, of Commiskey, IN, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday morning, February 2, 2024.Violet was born in Seymour, IN on February 1, 1947, to the late Maynard Peacock and Estella (Derringer) Peacock. On January 8, 1963, she married the love of her life, Charles Gudgel, who precedes her in death. Over the years, Violet worked at the Excel Shirt Factory as well as at Cummins. But her favorite and most important job was the one she took most seriously, as a mother and home maker. She had always enjoyed gardening, fishing, camping, and dancing to fun country music and country westerns. She loved flowers and her hummingbirds that she always fed at her home. But mostly, she loved her family. It was truly her life’s work to make sure they were well taken care of and felt loved by her. She will be sorely missed by them all.Survivors include her adult children, Sheila (Steve) Nolen, Paula (Michael) Brown, Michael Gudgel, Alan (Denise) Gudgel, Andrew (Jenny Coy) Gudgel; brothers, Ralph Peacock and Virgil Peacock; sisters, Rosie (John) Ebbing and Janice (Michael) Jones; 12 grandchildren, Heather (Rob) Lewis, Dustin Nolen, Brandon Nolen, Robert (Katie) Gudgel, Theron (Whitney) Jones, Addie Roll, Andi (Joey) Gudgel, Joshua (Kimmy) Gudgel, Jonathon Gudgel, Sarah Nolen, Chantele Kirk and Chadlynn Brown; 18 great-grandchildren, Brianna Evans, Chase Lewis, Dason Lewis, Kylee Lewis, Treyton Roll, Isiah Roll, Abagail Gudgel, Allison Gudgel, Finn Jones, Noah Jones, Sawyer Nolen, Willow Nolen, Eli Gudgel, Angelina Gudgel, Emry DuLong, Ryder DuLong, Lailah Bell Byrdwell and Rosalie Violet Byrdwell; and many nieces and nephews.Violet was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 54 years, Charles Gudgel; one son, Eddie Gudgel; one daughter-in-law, Ashley Gudgel; brothers, Richard Peacock, Earl Peacock and Chester Peacock; sisters, Evelyn Peacock, Katherine Corya, Carol Pyatt; sisters-in-law, Sherry Peacock, Francis Peacock, Dorcus Peacock and Opal Peacock.Funeral services for Violet will be held on Thursday, February 8, at 10:30AM at Voss and Sons Funeral Service, 316 N. Chestnut Street, Seymour, IN. Officiated by Pastor Danny Kessler. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday evening, February 7, from 4-8PM at the funeral home and again from 9:30AM until the time of service on Thursday.
