Lila Harting, age 94, of Seymour, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home on Thursday morning, February 1, 2024.

Lila was born on April 11, 1929, in Mimico, Ontario, to Norman and Elizabeth Hossie.

Survivors include daughter, Pamela Harting Snook-Tidd (Brian Tidd); granddaughters, Victoria and Katherine; and grandson, Alexander.

Lila was preceded in death by her parents, Norman Lewellyn Hossie and Elizabeth Matilda, and her husband, Alfred Harting.

Lila grew up in a suburb of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She met the love of her life, a sailor named Al, when she was 20. They married two years later. She moved to the United States knowing no one but her new husband and started building a life here while he served our country in the Korean War.

She worked for the phone company for her entire career.

After 19 years of marriage, she had one daughter, who she deeply cherished. Her life was spent making others happy, always leaving a room a little brighter than when she entered it. She was a great storyteller and giver of sound advice. Her grandchildren were her greatest love.

Visitation will take place from 1-4PM, Sunday, February 4, 2024 at Voss & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services. The Rev. Dr. Ralph Blomenberg will officiate a funeral service to follow at 4PM at the funeral home.
