SEYMOUR

Walter Lester Barger Sr., age 71, a native of Oneida, KY and a resident of Seymour, Indiana, passed away on Friday, January 19, 2024 at Majestic Care North in North Vernon, Indiana. He was born on February 28, 1952 to the late Joseph Barger and the late Keller (Riley) Kyle. He was a Christian by faith and a former employee of Morgan Foods. He enjoyed camping, fishing and doing reloads for his guns. He was a good man that loved going to church.

He is survived by his fiancé Lora Gladden of Seymour, Indiana, Two sons, Walter Barger Jr. of Seymour, Indiana and Justin Barger of Crothersville, Indiana. Three brothers, Joe Barger and his wife Christine of Scottsburg, Indiana, Earl Sandlin and his wife Faye of Austin, Indiana and Jesse Barger and his wife Renia of Austin, Indiana. Two sisters, Viola Couch of Austin, Indiana and Meranda Dean of Seymour, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Diana Lynn (Engleking) Barger, two sisters, Lily Dalton and Sally Rollins. Three brothers, Ameridia Barger, Colonel Barger and Floyd Barger.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM at Christensen Family Funeral Home – Seymour Chapel. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM with Pastor Jim Hudson officiating.

He will be laid to rest at Riverview Cemetery.
